On a whim, I retired in 2014 and accepted a job at KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan  as Chair of their  Econ department<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From May 2019, I am fully retired,  living in India and traveling a lot, although travel plans are stalled during the last six months due to Corona. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will write about minor things that I notice everyday, occasionally more serious stuff about game theory, micro, and my current research interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have traveled a lot during the last fifteen years, some travel blogs will be posted later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please feel free to write to me at pronto7852@yahoo.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"290\" height=\"386\" src=\"https:\/\/ramblingeconomist.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Hotelkazakhstan.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ramblingeconomist.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Hotelkazakhstan.jpg 290w, https:\/\/ramblingeconomist.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Hotelkazakhstan-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 290px) 100vw, 290px\" \/><figcaption>Almaty 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter how you measure it, my scholastic output over the years has been modest (low) in quantity although I had some publications in high quality journals like JET, RAND journal etc.  I am too old to put the blame for this on my hopelessly dysfunctional  family in India, my strident ex-wife, or my hitherto un-diagnosed serious  ADHD and a whole lot of other excuses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nope, I am alone responsible for my laziness and incompetence. Luckily, I have personally survived with a small nest egg to feed my addictions for the rest of my life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is pointless now to pursue any serious academic research. There will not be any  gain from it, either professionally or financially.  Later on, I might get another offer for a  visiting job somewhere which may not turn out to be pleasant  (I was very lucky with my job in Kazakhstan) &#8211; in any case, the idea of working full-time irks me now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a need to be intellectually active, and the ramblings will possibly satisfy this need. I might write a couple of small textbooks in the future &#8211; they will be available here for free!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a lot of material on this site &#8211; this page is not the end!! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To find the other stuff, click on the &#8220;archives&#8221; or the &#8220;categories&#8221; &#8211; other pages will open up. Thats because I have been bombarded with some serious medical problems, They have  wreaked my health and most of my spirit.
